Lessons From NASA: Pencils, Pens and People

The story is told that in the 1960’s in the United States NASA was determined to invent a writing utensil that worked in zero gravity conditions, effective for their space missions. For a number of years, thousands of hours and $68 million were spent creating, developing and testing until the Fisher Space Pen became a reality. Today it is commonly known as the “ballpoint pen.”

At the same time America was developing this common tool, the Russians were also in space on their own missions. The question was asked, what did the Russians use while the Americans were working so hard on this new device? And the answer was simple, they just used “a pencil.”

In our busy world today, we are always looking for the next best thing to improve our sales, increase profits–the cutting edge stuff. But in reality, we often have “pencils” in front of us already that will do the work effectively.

Our Stairs and Buckets Video Training is a cutting-edge Life Insurance Sales material that will lead you to higher levels. It can develop new team members faster than anything you have used in the past. However, what matters most is that you still call people, meet with people, ask important questions and listen carefully.

Using a pencil, or a pen and paper, or even a video is nice; but most importantly is that you see people, ask the right questions and give them the right information.

One of our favorite questions is simply, “‘Did you get Life Insurance on that loan?’ Let me show you how Life Insurance works and then you can ‘kill two birds with one stone!’”

Go sharpen your pencils and get to work….
