Working Over Wishing

It’s funny how the majority of people these days chase a guarantee or a warranty for a product or service.  They expect so much from something, when they expect next to nothing from themselves. People have no problem putting someone else’s iron in the fire, but not their own. They are scared of risk, but crave rewards—when no effort has been put forth on their behalf.

Don’t expect guarantees from others when you won’t hold any to yourself. Start holding yourself accountable for your actions. If you didn’t do what you said you would do so, no tv for a week, no alcohol. Now run 2 miles instead of one. Do what you have to do to build character, experience and class.

An iron in the fire has potential, it has character, it’s built from pressure and heat to withstand the hard-labored elements that its future holds. An iron on the shelf looking on has no class, no drive, no character—it’s the first to point fingers; the last to take responsibility. We must critique ourselves, acknowledge our weak points and work on them. We must hold ourselves accountable for the things we haven’t done.

You don’t get what you wish for, you get what you work for.

Back to work!
